With another season of Illinois high school basketball underway, those included in the top 25 spots of the Illinois On3 Composite Rankings are off to great starts. They have stamped their class by dominating their first assignments.
That said, here are the state’s best teams after the first round of action, with one team included in the nationwide top 100. These rankings might change as the season progresses, and there’s a long way to go until the end.
The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Ranking is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

After a disappointing loss to Chicago Mt. Carmel, the Trevians unleashed their fury on Butler, 82-24. With wins against Bulls College Prep and Loyola Academy, New Trier is up to 3-2. They can earn win number four this season by beating Deerfield on Dec. 6.
