CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois women’s basketball team will not start the 2024-25 season as a ranked team.
The Illini were among the teams receiving votes in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 released late Tuesday morning.
Shauna Green’s team received 23 votes, which put Illinois 29th nominally in the preseason rankings. Illinois was behind Iowa (37), TCU (30) and Utah (24) among the teams receiving votes.
The Illini open the season in 23 days against No. 19 Florida State on Nov. 7 at State Farm Center in Champaign.
