The vacancy for Humberside Police’s top job is to be re-advertised after the force failed to receive any applications.

A recruitment process for the new chief constable started in July following the departure of former chief Paul Anderson, who announced his retirement from the force in June.

The following day the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed an investigation into allegations of his misconduct.

A spokesperson for the Office of the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner confirmed the vacancy would be re-advertised in October.

They added: “All details including [an] updated application pack will be released onto our website in due course.”

Former assistant chief constable at Police Scotland Judi Heaton QPM came out of retirement to take temporary charge while a new boss was being recruited.

The job advertisement called for a leader to be “able to continue to drive excellence in performance and ensure the force realises its maximum potential”.

A contract of up to five years would include a salary of about £171,519, plus or minus 10%.

The closing date for applications was 9 August.
