I am going to roll the dice with the 5-year-old Mare BELLA VENETA who has been in the doldrums in recent times, but has the opportunity to bounce back to winning ways here in this Class 6 Handicap over the mile. She clearly hasn’t been the easiest to train, and he only win to date came when scoring over Course and Distance two years ago.
She didn’t perform too badly when fourth at Windsor recently on her return to turf, and gets to have a crack at this assignment on the back of that encouraging effort. Rain softened ground shouldn’t be a concern, and coming into this off a career-low mark of 62 gives reason for optimism in what looks a fairly wide-open encounter.
Rab Havlin takes the ride and this team look to have sound each-way claims at the West Country venue which arguably is the most winnable opportunity she has had for some time and so Bella Veneta gets the nod from me.

Gavin Sheehan and Jamie Snowden team up with CLIMBING who looks to have found the perfect opportunity to get off the winning mark for the first time over fences. The gelding went close on Chase debut at Stratford in July when runner-up, and then followed that up by coming third at Worcester last time out in a decent little contest.
On the whole, the 6-year-old jumped beautifully, and comes into this assignment taking on some out of sorts individuals – a totally winnable assignment, where the prospect of cut in the ground and the longer trip shouldn’t be a problem.
Eased to a mark of 103, I think this unexposed sort should have a lot more to offer for a yard who do well at the track. I think this can go the way of the Upper Lambourn team.
LET’S GO JOE has been a little out of sorts in recent times, but can be a danger to all if on song here for this encounter. The 6-year-old has just the one career win to date and that was when winning on Hurdling and stable debut at the back end of last year, with that performance coming when bolting up over Course and Distance.
Since then, things have gone a bit ragged, but he looks to have everything in his favour for this race. The prospect of rain-softened ground will only aid his chances, and he gets to race here off a career-low mark of 94 – almost a stone lower than where he was at the start of the year. The absence shouldn’t be an issue, as his sole win came off the back of a long lay-off and this race looks absolutely spot on for him arriving after a wind-operation.
The yard have been amongst the winners lately, and Let’s Go Joe can use his back class to take advantage in this company. Toby Wynne is in the saddle claiming 3lb and this combination get the nod from me.
