I Can Imagine (second choice) still has some untapped potential, and she can do well on her stable debut. She has no stamina concerns, a comment that can’t be labelled to either Sex On Fire or Sahara Dancer, the other two runners with strong form claims.
While the bare form of IMMEDIATE EFFECT‘s debut win leaves him with a bit to find on RPRs, the fact he was able to win despite doing so much wrong was encouraging, and the subsequent victory of the runner-up gives the form some ballast. He can follow up.
An open race in which the vote goes to APEELING, who is unexposed on AW and was a strong-finishing third when upped to 7f at Wolverhampton last month. She’s only 1lb higher than for that close call and should have more to offer at this trip.
Second choice is the Gosdens’ lightly raced 3yo Mrs Morrell, who is back in calmer waters after a break and could resume her progress on this drop back in trip. Aquacell is next on the list ahead of Executive Decision and Enola Grey.
Kildonan has the best form but he’s struggled in his last two runs and needs a major revival back on AW.
There are several newcomers who need watching in the market including Trouble Man, who is closely related to a 6f 2yo winner, and Ribbon Is A Dancer, who represents a yard with a 16% record with juveniles this year. However, preference is for GREY SALVO, who made a good start when runner-up behind an odds-on rival over C&D last Monday and should improve for that experience.
Fantasy Believer has a lot more in his favour back over this C&D than he’s had on his last two starts and has to be a big player, but PRIMO LARA was a handicapper going places earlier in the season, and he can show the benefit of his recent return to action now switched to Tapeta. Prometeo and Gloucestershire are others who can have a case made.
Judged on 2024 form, CAMACHO MAN (NAP) holds particularly solid claims, and he may still be capable of further improvement for his current yard. Rose Light, back at the scene of her sole win, is second choice ahead of Destinado who could stage a revival in this scenario. Fiftyshadesaresdev is 0-27 but has possibilities on recent efforts.
Fortunate Star is only 3lb higher than for last week’s dead-heat over C&D and he still has some handicapping scope given his best form this year. He’s high on the list with his stable going so well, while Lochaber could go well at a price, and Mehmo (second choice) looked on the way back last time. HAPPIER has shown plenty of speed in her races over further, and perhaps this belated first crack at 5f can see her get off the mark for the year.
Sir Joseph Swan’s turn looks near but unexposed ARC ZOOSVE, who could well build on his latest effort, is an interesting alternative. Alex The Great is unpenalised for his clearcut win over 1m6f here yesterday.
My Boy Jack (second choice) and Hi Hoh Tonto look solid candidates to run well, while Socialise and May Remain also have something to recommend them. MY KIND OF GIRL has offered enough to think she could win races at a low level, though, and the return to 6f can see her break her duck. At likely bigger odds, an improved showing from Supernova Steps wouldn’t come as a huge shock either.
Irish Dancer, representing a stable going well, has been placed here on his last two runs and he looks likely to give his running but the unexposed 3yos Piperstown and ARC TESORO could be the pair to focus on.
The selection ran creditably on his handicap debut when racing furthest from the stands’ rail at Newcastle and is marginally preferred. A penalty could prove beyond Monday’s narrow Wolverhampton winner Global Effort.
