Ifonlytheycudtalk was value for more than the winning margin at Beverley last time and the move that saw him surge to the front 1f out offers hope he can deal with his revised mark. He’s high on the list but SUANNI bumped into a handicap blot (now rated a stone higher) at Wolverhampton four weeks ago and he can resume winning ways. Stoneacre Girl and Havechatma are others with something to recommend them.
An unappealing betting event in which money for one of the newcomers Paulsgonefishing and Rebel Star (second choice) would be signficant. Vibrato has form claims but those good runs were over 1m and this will be a different test on his stable debut after a break. ALL WAYS GLAMOROUS isn’t obviously progressive but he’s consistent and 5f on Tapeta won’t be an issue so this may be his day to shine.
Back From Dubai has conditions to suit, while Hardman is better than he showed at Beverley last time and Hostelry (second choice) lurks on a dangerous mark. KRISTAL KLEAR won well in a good time at Wolverhampton last week though and she can make light of her 5lb penalty.
Amayretto and First Dynasty are both respected but Kodebreaker and AMAYSMONT come here in good form and can fight this out. The selection isn’t the force of old but that’s reflected in his mark and he can defy a penalty for last week’s comfortable Wolverhampton success.
Divot is one to keep a close eye on with a view to handicaps but this AW novice has attracted a couple of classy 2yos and SHAH can make the most of the weight he receives from Jonquil. Although he was turned over at odds-on last time, 1m on good to soft looked to stretch him and his earlier York second was a fine effort. Jonquil shouldn’t be judged too harshly on his Doncaster run and retains potential.
The stoutly bred DIFFERENT DRUM made his breakthrough when upped to 2m on the Newcastle Tapeta last time and he stayed on strongly. He looks set for further improvement and that may well take care of chief danger Grey Nyle, who came closest to winning when he made his own move up to 2m at Newcastle five days earlier.
A good race of its type. Kitai, International Girl and Daytona Lady can make bold bids for the older generation but there are some interesting 3yos on show, notably War Bride, Thursday’s Child (second choice) and MISS BODACIOUS. The selection has been a shade disappointing since her Newmarket win in June but her latest Thirsk run was more encouraging and the combination of new accessories and a return to AW could see her exploit her drop in the weights.
This looks a good opportunity for WHITE UMBRELLA to return to winning ways after a good third at Ripon last time. Alibi Warning is still a maiden but is knocking on the door and looks the main danger. The consistent Crafty Spirit is another who should run well.
The 3yo HUNTERS RUN (nap) has hit top form since going up in distance and this further step up can see him land a three-timer. The main danger is Just An Hour who is yet to win for current connections but has slipped in the weights and a success looks imminent. The other to consider is Beautiful Crown who tends to be slowly away but finishes his races well.
