Bosphorus Rose is the clear form pick but perhaps this will go to a newcomer. AMERICAN GAL, who is closely related to six winners, is top of the list. Chilli Queen and Tracy Lord are others to note.
Plenty to consider. James Fanshawe often brings his horses along slowly and ENROLLED took a good step forward from his first to second run before only just failing to match the latter form over 1m last time, despite racing freely. Returning to this shorter trip could be just the ticket on his nursery debut. Notimeforchitchat, Angelica Bay and Footwork head the dangers.
Unless the market speaks particularly favourably about any of the newcomers, this looks best left to Bermuda Longtail and DASH OF AZURE. Ralph Beckett should know where he stands with Bermuda Longtail, given one of his beat her at this track 19 days ago, so his Dash Of Azure is the pick.
Olivia Jane (second choice) is the obvious starting point having gone down by just a neck on debut while a bold bid from Bermuda Longtail in division one would give Choreographic’s latest fifth a boost. A chance is taken that SEASON OF LIGHT will be seen to better effect on this quicker surface, though.
This is wide open but the vote goes to Rae Guest’s upwardly mobile filly RAFFLES ANGEL who remains on a workable mark despite a 4lb rise for her gutsy Yarmouth win last time out. C&D scorers Stanley Spencer (second choice) and Coup De Force rate big threats, however, while in-form pair Treacherous and Ultramarine also need factoring into this highly competitive handicap.
3yos have won six of the nine runnings of this and George Scott’s TOUCH THE MOON looks worth siding with. He was a 425,000euros yearling and perhaps moving up to 1m4f (he looks sure to stay) and switching to AW (he’s closely related to a four-time Polytrack winner) can see him leave his previous efforts in handicap company well behind. Rockit Tommy is feared most.
The selection is BLUE COLLAR LAD (nap), who has done very well since joining Daniel Steele and can add to his win at Chelmsford last month. Thunderous Love is an interesting contender back up to 7f and is second choice ahead of Heerathetrack. Adace, Diamondsinthesand and South Dakota Sioux all arrive in good form, while Believe It is one to watch in the betting off a lowly opening mark.
This is not as competitive as the numbers suggest and Tom Ward’s low-mileage ART FANTASTIQUE is taken to build on his good recent Windsor fourth and get off the mark for the season. John Butler’s Seas Of Elzaam is feared most on the back of his eyecatching C&D sixth, especially if the market vibes are positive, with Smasher and Purple Poppy appealing as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
The return to Kempton could be a major positive for SOPHAR SOGOOD and he earns the vote ahead of Kissininthebackrow, who enjoyed a good summer. Beggarman could be a contender if bouncing back from a below-par run.
