Casual Encounter and Queen Sansa are interesting newcomers in a race lacking depth and the market should be a pointer to the prospects of both. However, the suggestion is MAGIC GLOW, who showed fair form from a wide draw over C&D on debut and, although below that level last time, is worth another chance. Mrs Dowley and the wide-drawn Sheephavenbaystory look best of the remainder.
Easily most seems to depend on whether NEEDLEPOINT returns on song after the 515-day absence following her debut, which she won in a race for unraced 2yo fillies on the Prix de Diane card at Chantilly. James Tate’s newcomer Waiting For Love getting the better of Anamika and Space Trooper, the two who have placed form this season, cannot be ruled out but this is clearly a race in which the market moves should give major clues.
Extrication is an unexposed sort who may be capable of better but preference is for ULTRAMARINE (nap), who ran well over 6f under Jordan Williams last time and he’ll be suited by the return to this trip. Arctic Dawn is another lightly raced sort open to further improvement.
There isn’t much solid form to go on but it’s worth siding with MANARA, who never figured at Newmarket last time but she’d shown ability on her two previous AW starts and she’ll likely be suited by the step up to this trip. Flaine appeals in this company given she’s a recent winner who is capable of better and Respiro Solitario is also a player given his last run threw up winners.
Kessaar Power is 2lb ahead of his mark and should go well, as should Cherry King and Meng Tian. Preference, though, is for dual turf winner DASHING DONKEY, who hasn’t had many goes on AW but he ran respectably at this venue in September and his trainer was among the winners here last weekend.
Flying Fletcher is 2-2 over 6f on Tapeta but he has to show this track suits as well as Newcastle. Happy Tears and Daytona Lady are closely matched on a C&D run from late summer and it could be worth siding with SHE’S CENTIMENTAL. Now in the care of Mick Appleby, the well-drawn filly has slipped to a good mark and gets the services of Rossa Ryan.
Darryll Holland’s SUANNI made all on the previous occasion he was partnered by Rossa Ryan and might be worth chancing from a good draw. War Zone had the selection behind in fifth when scoring over C&D a fortnight ago and should go well again. Marcus was third in that same C&D contest and should also have a part to play if the outside stall doesn’t prove too troublesome.
Sunset In Paris and SEMSER stand out in this line-up as multiple AW winners and might be the pair to focus on, with the latter getting the vote. George Scott’s 3yo Two B Tanned was a bit better than the result on her recent turf handicap debut after a break and retains unexposed potential at a low level. River Alwen will be suited by the return to 1m2f and also makes the shortlist.
