An upcoming episode of “Top Chef” will feature Holland America Line’s global fresh fish program.
The episode, which was filmed aboard the line’s Eurodam ship, will broadcast on June 12 on Bravo. It will also be available to stream starting June 13 on Peacock. Chef Masaharu Morimoto, the cruise line’s fresh fish ambassador, also makes an appearance during the show, which marks the first time “Top Chef” filmed a series finale in the Caribbean on a cruise ship.
“For two decades, Bravo’s ‘Top Chef’ has united fans over a love for food, travel and culture,” says Jamie Cutburth, executive vice president of creative partnerships, advertising and partnerships for NBCUniversal. “And throughout the show’s iconic legacy, we’ve been collaborating with brands to elevate each season of the award-winning culinary competition. This incredible collaboration with Holland America Line will deliver a unique opportunity for fans to see the final four cheftestants get a taste of vacation and fresh fish as they make their journey to see who earns the title of ‘Top Chef.’”
Holland America Line is partnering with the show for its 21st season. For the episode, the final four contestants are onboard Eurodam and tasked with preparing an eight-course fish-tasting menu for the judges and a table of experts. The winner gets $10,000 plus a free 10-day cruise to anywhere the line sails.
Morimoto also prepared a meal for the contestants, including the Halibut XO, a dish he created for the cruise line that’s available across the entire fleet. Morimoto also has a namesake specialty restaurant aboard Nieuw Amsterdam and does pop-up experiences on other ships.
“We are highly focused on providing our guests with exceptional culinary experiences, and teaming up with Bravo’s ‘Top Chef’ is an incredible opportunity to not only bring attention to our global fresh fish program, but to give a glimpse into cruising,” says Gus Antorcha, president, Holland America Line.
Through the global fresh fish program, introduced last year, Holland America Line sources seafood from a global network of 60 ports. The line serves 80 different types of fresh fish, which go from port to plate in less than 48 hours.
