Despite ongoing efforts, illegal activities remain a significant issue in Bengaluru. Data released by the Bengaluru City Police indicates that in May alone, 40 individuals were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Throughout 2024, the city has experienced a concerning number of such NDPS cases each month, with 38 cases in January, 48 in February, 38 in March, 43 in April, and 26 in May.

Along with that, authorities have intensified their crackdown on various illegal activities, resulting in numerous arrests across multiple cases. Notably, gambling and cricket betting top the list, with 27 and 34 cases leading to the arrests of 182 and 69 individuals, respectively. Matka, another form of gambling, saw four arrests in just two cases. Additionally, two cases of other betting resulted in seven arrests.

Illicit liquor and excise-related offences also witnessed significant action, with six arrests in six cases. The Prohibition of Immoral Trafficking Act saw 23 cases, resulting in 28 arrests.
In cases involving illegal arms, one case was reported, but no arrests were made. Exorbitant interest rates led to two arrests in two cases. The enforcement of the EC Act resulted in six cases and six arrests, while 13 cases under the Copyright Act led to eight arrests. Also, the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act saw the highest number of cases at 76, with 79 arrests.
