Football fans have all made the same joke as Greenland released the ‘greatest kit of all time’.

Greenland isn’t the biggest of heavyweights on the international football scene, in fact they’re not even FIFA recognised, but they can certainly claim to be the best dressed. And after breaking the internet with their home kit, Greenland have released their glacier inspired home kit.

“The Ice Sheet stands as a reminder of the strength and patience it takes to endure in one of the world’s harshest environments,” Morten Lund, Marketing Director at Hummel, said. “Our goal was to capture that story in a design that resonates with both the team and the people of Greenland.”

However, football fans all made the same joke on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Lovely. Now I need to decide which player to have on the back – Christian Pulisic or Tim Weah?”

“Now that is a thing of beauty,” a second said. While a third replied: “OK the shirt (Greenland away) is one thing but the shoot is something else.”

Greenland has been thrust to the centre of the geopolitical stage due to incoming president Donald Trump’s desire to buy the island for the United States.

According to the BBC, Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has told Donald Trump that it is up to Greenland to decide its own future.

In a phone call on Wednesday (January 15), Frederiksen told Trump that Denmark was prepared to increase its responsibility for security in the Arctic.

However, she reiterated the statements of the Greenland PM, Mute Egede, that Greenland was not for sale.

Trump has not reacted to the call publicly. However, he reposted on his TruthSocial account a 2019 poll that indicated 68% of Greenlanders supported independence from Denmark.
