The Gators currently stand at 2-1 in non-conference play and will continue their slate at No. 7 Michigan Tuesday evening.
The Wolverines will enter Tuesday’s match after defeating No. 5 Virgina on Feb. 1. Michigan tallied a 4-2 win in Charlottesville with all four points coming from singles play. Julia Fliegner, Emily Sartz-Lunde, Reese Miller, and Jessica Bernales were the Wolverines’ responsible for the singles victories on Saturday.
Michigan currently has three nationally ranked singles players, No. 5 Fliegner, No. 18 Piper Charney, and No. 40 Lily Jones. On the doubles side, Jones and Bernales sit at No. 18, Miller and Fliegner are ranked No. 49, and Charney and Sartz-Lunde round out the rankings at No. 61.
GATORS LAST TIME OUT
Florida took its first loss of the season, falling 4-1 to No. 22 LSU on Jan. 26. Despite not clinching the doubles point, Florida evened the score at 1-1, notching the first singles point from a straight set victory (6-1, 6-1) by freshman Noémie Oliveras. The Gators continues to battle in singles, but ultimately dropped 4-1 to the Tigers on their home courts.
