Parris Campbell, Ainias Smith, John Ross and Britain Covey are in the mix for the No. 3 wide receiver spot.
That’s not exactly the most inspiring quartet to choose from in the race to land snaps behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Campbell, who has a connection with head Nick Sirianni from their time in Indianapolis, has one season with more than 200 receiving yards.
Ross is trying to revive his career. If it works, the Eagles could have a speed demon in the slot, but it’s still a big risk.
Smith, a fifth-round pick in 2024, may have the biggest opportunity in front of him because the Eagles staff may be more willing to give a rookie with potential more snaps.
Covey has been the Eagles’ return man in recent years, but if he impresses at wide receiver, he might be used on more than just special teams.
One thing is clear with the Eagles: they need at least one, and probably two, of those players to step up in preseason so they feel comfortable with their depth at wide receiver going into the regular season.
