EA Sports College Football 25 released its player rankings Wednesday – and there were a few surprises among the top 100 players.
Michigan cornerback Will Johnson is ranked as the No. 1 overall player. Johnson – who had four interceptions and helped lead the Wolverines to a national championship last season – is one of three players with an overall ranking of 96.
No player achieved the best possible score of 99, and the first quarterback on the list boasts a 93 overall rating.
The player rankings included a few interesting picks – as well as some hints for the gaming experience. Ahead of the game’s release on July 19, Sporting News breaks down the top 100 player ratings.

Michigan cornerback Will Johnson is ranked No. 1 in the player ratings for the game with a 96 overall score.
The other two players with a 96 overall rating are LSU tackle Will Campbell and Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon, who won the Doak Walker Award last season.
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is the top-ranked quarterback in the game, which will mark the first NCAA football video game in more than 10 years.
Sanders is ranked No. 17, one spot ahead of Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, who also has a 93 overall rating. Sanders, however, might be more fun to use on the game considering he has Travis Hunter at receiver. Hunter is the No. 6 overall player and has a rating of 95, which makes him the top receiver in the game.

Alabama’s Jalen Milroe (No. 71) and Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart (No. 73), Kansas’ Jalon Daniels (No. 79) and Liberty’s Kaidon Salter (No. 90) all have an overall rating of 90.

Top players for the Buckeyes include safety Caleb Downs (No. 5), running back Quinshon Judkins (No. 9), receiver Emeka Egbuka (No. 19) and running back TreVeyon Henderson (No. 23). The Buckeyes’ offense likely will be very fun to control as a result.

Ohio State has eight players in the top 100. Georgia has six, and Michigan, Alabama and Oregon had five players on that list.
