Dornoch and Fierceness are in a eight-way tie for 10th place in the latest rankings of the world’s best racehorses.
Dornoch won the Grade 1 Haskell by 1 1/4 lengths to join the rankings. He came into the race off of a half-length victory in the Belmont Stakes. Fierceness also is rated at 121 after raising his rating from 120 by taking the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) by a length. Earlier this season, he won the Florida Derby (G1).
They join National Treasure and Señor Buscador as the only U.S.-trained horses in the top 10.
Also, Thorpedo Anna joined the rankings in a tie for no. 18 after winning the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) by 4 1/2 lengths. Her other top-level victories this year include the Kentucky Oaks (G1) and Acorn Stakes (G1). Cogburn and Mystik Dan also are tied for no. 18.
The rankings are compiled by the world’s best racehorse rankings committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.
Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Laurel River remains the top-ranked horse, and Goliath shot up to no. 2 after his impressive performance in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1).
