The boys basketball season is off and running, and teams are headed into a busy stretch of pre- and post-Christmas tournaments. Here is this week’s Daily Breeze Top 10.
DAILY BREEZE BOYS BASKETBALL TOP 10
1. Redondo 6-0
The Sea Hawks are off to an undefeated start, including going 3-0 last week with wins over Oak Park (97-39), Chaminade (93-57) and Centennial (85-44).
2. Inglewood 5-2
Jason Crowe Jr. finally gained eligibility after his transfer and poured 43 points in an OT win against St. Bernard and 50 points in a win over Bakersfield. The two losses are forfeit losses.
3. Mira Costa 10-0
The Mustangs won the Bellflower Tournament, defeating Lakewood 76-36 in the final. Bryson Bryker earned tournament MVP honors. The Mustangs have won two tournaments this season.
4. St. Bernard 6-2
The Vikings head into Del Rey League play this week. St. Bernard defeated Rolling Hills Prep 56-48 Saturday at the Take Flight Challenge. Josh Palmer had 13 points in the win.
5. Rolling Hills Prep 8-2
The Huskies lost their first two games of the season over the weekend, losing to St. Bernard (56-48) and Crespi (66-55).
6. Bishop Montgomery 5-3
The Knights defeated Leuzinger (57-48) last week but dropped their next three games (Heritage Christian, Harvard-Westlake and Long Beach Poly).
7. Westchester 2-4
The Comets had a 74-72 win over Brentwood last week. They went 1-1 in the National Hoopfest in Maryland.
8. Leuzinger 4-3
The Olympians have a three-point loss against Mater Dei and a nine-point loss to Bishop Montgomery. They won their last three games in the Redondo Pac Shores and Take Flight Challenge.
9. Palos Verdes 6-4
The Sea Kings ended last week with losses to Crespi (46-38) and Millikan (60-57).
10. Wiseburn Da Vinci 5-3
The Wolves return to action this week in the Calvary Chapel Downey Tournament.
Next five: South Torrance 8-5; West Torrance 6-6; Torrance 6-2; North Torrance 4-4; El Segundo 3-7.
