Matt Bewley spent two seasons in the Overtime Elite developmental league before making a decision to pursue a college path. However, the NCAA denied him, as well as his twin brother Ryan Bewley, eligibility for “receiving money generated from their name, image and likeness while competing for Overtime Elite Academy.” The Bewley twins committed to play for Chicago State, an independent Division I program, for the 2023-24 season, but never played a game after a judge denied a temporary restraining order against the NCAA. Matt led Overtime Elite in rebounding with 9.1 per game while adding 11.3 points per contest during his second regular season of action.
