Action in the college basketball transfer portal continues even as the final days of May count down. The recent record-setting window closed at the beginning of the month, but numerous high-profile transfers have since made their commitment decisions for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Arkansas, Auburn, Louisville, North Carolina, Tennessee and others recently added to their respective transfer portal hauls for the 2024 cycle. Four transfers in the top-100 rankings came off the board in the past week, including former North Florida guard Chaz Lanier, New Mexico power forward JT Toppin and Kentucky guard DJ Wagner, who were all among the best available players prior to their decision.
The list of best available players remaining in the college basketball transfer portal is still stacked with top talents for those teams looking to fill specific needs ahead of next season. However, only six of the top-100 transfer prospects are uncommitted with some also testing the NBA Draft process.

Previous school: UCLA
Will McClendon never quite panned out as anticipated at UCLA. The former top-100 recruit averaged less than three points per game during his two seasons with the Bruins before entering the portal. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound shooting guard will remain on the West Coast for the 2024-25 season with a transfer to San Jose State. McClendon played in 33 games this past year as a sophomore and averaged 4.1 points with 3.3 rebounds as well as 1.1 assists. He shot 33.9% from the field. McClendon has two years of eligibility remaining.

Previous school: Southeastern Louisiana
Roger McFarlane earned Second Team All-Southland Conference honors this past season after finishing as the second-leading scorer for Southeastern Louisiana, but will make the jump to the high-major level at Boston College in 2024-25. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound guard posted a career-best 14.8 points per game while shooting 41.7% from the field. In three seasons with the Lions, McFarlane is a 43% field-goal shooter and 36.7% from 3-point range. He has one year of eligibility remaining with the Eagles.

Louisville continues to add to its incoming transfer class, which is the largest in Division I. The Cardinals and new head coach Pat Kelsey landed some size out of the portal in former Georgia big man Frank Anselem-Ibe. The 6-foot-10, 215-pound veteran spent the past two seasons with the Bulldogs after transferring in from Syracuse. Anselem-Iba averaged just 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds while playing in 29 games this past season in Athens. He has one year of eligibility remaining at Louisville.

Previous school: Old Dominion
Vasean Allette had a breakout campaign early as a freshman at Old Dominion, but was dismissed from the program in January. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound combo guard entered the transfer portal and will join TCU in 2024-25. Allette averaged 17.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals in 19 games of action with the Monarchs before his departure. He was the top prospect coming out of Ontario in the 2023 high school class and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Chisom Okpara earned the Most Improved Player Award at Harvard this past season after finishing as the second-leading scorer for the Crimson. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward entered the transfer portal and is on the move to the West Coast where he will continue his college career at Stanford in 2024-25. Okpara averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 47.9% from the field as a sophomore. He ranked second in the Ivy League in free throws made (111). Okapara has two years of eligibility remaining.

Big 12 newcomer Utah landed a key addition out of the transfer portal in former East Carolina forward Ezra Ausar. The 6-foot-8, 247-pound versatile prospect averaged 11.4 points and 4.7 rebounds this past season with the Pirates. Ausar shot 51.4% from the field and 65.3% from the free-throw line. He made 44 starts in 64 games played in two seasons at East Carolina. He has two years of eligibility remaining with the Utes.

North Carolina added some much needed depth inside when it landed former Vanderbilt power forward Ven-Allen Lubin. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound sophomore averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds last season with the Commodores. He made 50% of his shot attempts and 73.2% of his free throws. Lubin expects to be a major piece in the front court for the Tar Heels next season with departures of Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram. Lubin has two years of eligibility remaining.

Auburn recently secured one of the top remaining transfers in former Georgia Tech shooting guard Miles Kelly. The 6-foot-6, 180-pound veteran entered the portal shortly before the window closed in late April and also entered the 2024 NBA Draft. However, Kelly will return to college basketball for another year with the Tigers. He averaged 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 36.9% from the field and 32.1% from 3-point range this past season with the Yellow Jackets.

The final decision took longer than expected, but former Kentucky guard DJ Wagner will follow head coach John Calipari to Arkansas. The Razorbacks add another important piece to their already No. 1-ranked transfer class. A former five-star recruit, Wagner started in 28 games for Kentucky this past season, averaging 9.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He is the son of former Memphis star DaJuan Wagner, who played for Calipari and the Tigers. The younger Wagner has three years of eligibility remaining.

The Mountain West Conference Co-Freshman of the Year is on the move to the Big 12. Former New Mexico power forward JT Toppin will join Texas Tech for the 2024-25 season after a breakout campaign with the Lobos. The 6-foot-9, 210-pound young prospect averaged 12.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game this past season. Toppin has three years of eligibility remaining after testing the NBA Draft process in May.

Former North Florida guard Chaz Lanier was one of the best available transfer prospects before his decision to join Tennessee for the 2024-25 campaign. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound veteran averaged 19.7 points while shooting 51.1% from the field and 44.0% from 3-point range this past season. He averaged less than five points per game during his first three years with the Ospreys. Lanier received an invite to the G League Elite Camp, but will return to college basketball for an additional year of eligibility.
