CBS Sports college basketball writer Gary Parrish has made significant midweek changes to his Top 25 and 1 rankings. The results of Tuesday, specifically Kentucky pulling off an upset on the road against Tennessee, have caused a major shift.
The Wildcats moved up three spots to No. 8 following their 78-73 win, while the Vols dropped five spots to fall out of the top 10 at No. 11. They are just two of 10 total teams from the SEC in Parrish’s rankings, the most of any conference.

Although there was plenty of shifting elsewhere in the rankings, the top five remains exactly the same as it was when Parrish last updated things on Sunday. That includes the Tigers, who stay at No. 1 after also beating Tennessee over the weekend to improve to 18-1 (6-0 SEC).
Auburn saw leading scorer Johni Broome return against the Vols after missing the previous two games due to injury. He wasted no time picking up where he left off, finishing with 16 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks.

Duke had a couple of close calls in its past two games but ultimately pulled away for wins against Wake Forest and NC State. The Blue Devils have now won 14 straight games and are also the only team in the country that owns a victory against Auburn.
Freshman phenom and projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg has lived up to the hype so far and poured in 28 points in Monday’s win against the Wolfpack. Next up for Duke is a highly anticipated rivalry game against North Carolina on Saturday.

There was some controversy this weekend in Tuscaloosa after coach Nate Oats benched star guard Mark Sears for the entire second half against LSU. Alabama still went on to win 80-73 to improve its record to 17-3 (6-1 SEC).
Sears leads the Crimson Tide with 18.1 points and 4.9 assists per game and recently became one of less than 100 players in Division I history to reach 2,500 points for their career. Hopefully he and the coaching staff can get things sorted out before a game against Mississippi State on Wednesday.

The Gators rolled to an 89-59 victory against rival Georgia on Saturday and currently sit right behind Auburn and Alabama in the SEC standings. Walter Clayton Jr. and Alijah Martin each chipped in 17 points as four of the five starters scored in double figures.
Florida’s defense also forced 18 turnovers and caused the Bulldogs to shoot just 35.6% from the floor. They have a huge matchup coming up against Tennessee this weekend and will aim to hand the Vols their third straight loss.

Surprisingly, Iowa State’s ranking did not change despite an 86-75 overtime loss to Arizona on Monday. The Cyclones looked well on their way to a win before Caleb Love nailed a half-court buzzer beater to send the game to OT.
That shot seemed to sap all the momentum away from Iowa State as it was then outscored 15-4 in the extra period. Leading scorer Curtis Jones was a mere 1-of-11 shooting in the loss and will look to get back on track against Kansas State on Saturday.

Marquette is the first team to see a change in the Top 25 and 1 college basketball rankings, as it moves up one spot compared to its previous ranking. The Golden Eagles survived a road game against Butler with a 78-69 win and likely would have had a case to crack to top five over Iowa State had they not already lost to the Cyclones this season.
Stevie Mitchell scored a career-best 22 points in the vicotry against the Bulldogs. Marquette is currently tied for lead in the ACC standings and faces defending national champion Connecticut this weekend.

The Spartans are one of the hottest teams in college basketball at the moment, having won 13 straight games for the first time in six years. The last time they went on a win streak that long, they made the Final Four, and they’ll hope for similar results this season.
Michigan State most recently cruised to a 73-51 victory against Minnesota on Tuesday evening. It did so behind a well-balanced attack that got everyone involved as Tre Holloman led the Spartans with 12 points.
Previous ranking: 11
Tuesday night’s win for the Wildcats snapped a two-game losing skid as they now have six wins against top 25 opponents this season. That includes two of the schools (Duke and Florida) that are ranked above them.
Koby Brea led the team with 18 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting while Amari Williams had a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds. Parrish argued in his story that first-year Kentucky coach Mark Pope is quickly making a case to be named Coach of the Year when all is said and done.
Previous ranking: 9
Purdue hasn’t played since Friday, when it destroyed No. 21 Michigan by a score of 91-64. Braden Smith stuffed the stat sheet in the win to finish with 24 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and four steals.
Smith currently leads the Big Ten with 8.9 assists per game this season in addition to 15.4 points. The Boilkermakers are coming off of an appearance in the national championship last year and looking to make their way back. Currently, they sit 1.5 games behind Michigan State in the confrence standings.

Even though Iowa State comes ahead of Houston in Parrish’s Top 25 and 1 college basketball rankings, it’s the Cougars who sit atop the Big 12 with an undefeated conference record. They’re currently in the midst of a 12-game winning streak and most recently took out Kansas by a score of 92-86 in double overtime.
J’Wan Roberts finished with 24 points and nine rebounds while Milos Uzan nearly had a triple-double with 17 points, nine assists and nine rebounds in the win against the Jayhawks. Next up for the Cougars is a road game against West Virginia on Monday.
