The USA TODAY Coaches Poll Top 25 has been updated following an explosive sixth week for the 2024-2025 men’s college basketball season.
It was a bit of a lighter week for various reasons throughout college basketball, but there were still plenty of games that caught the attention of fans around the country. Many of the top teams were able to notch victories, and some ascending programs continued their rise during Week 6’s contests.
With that in mind, the sport’s brightest coaching minds put their brains together to come up with some rankings after Week 6. Check out the Top 25 below, and see if your team made the cut following the second week of a new campaign.
Tennessee remains among the top teams in the nation after winning two more games and staying undefeated. The prevailed against their biggest test so far of the season against Illinois, which came down to the buzzer.
The Volunteers only have one game this week, and it’ll come in Knoxville against 3-6 Western Carolina. At 10-0 on the season, 11-0 seems well within reach for Tennessee.
Auburn looked dominant once again in their neutral site matchup against Ohio State on Saturday, putting the contest away early before cruising through the second half. The Tigers advanced to 9-1 in the process.
They’ll have two chances to prove themselves this week. First, Georgia State will come to town on Tuesday, and then a highly anticipated showdown with the Purdue Boilermakers is slated for Saturday afternoon.
Iowa State held serve this week, picking up a rivalry win against Iowa to help build their non-conference resume, along with building the case for the Big 12 against the Big Ten as a whole. Additionally, they defeated Omaha by 32 on Sunday, for good measure.
Only one game is on the docket for the Cyclones this week. They’ll welcome Morgan State to town on Sunday, a home contest at 1:00 p.m. ET for Iowa State.
Kentucky was among the few teams to play multiple games this week, including a rivalry win against Louisville, which only further ingratiated Mark Pope to the fanbase. The Wildcats are now 10-1 on the young campaign.
Next up for the rejuvenated program is a fascinating game against Ohio State this coming Saturday in the CBS Sports Classic. Kentucky will be hoping to keep the good times rolling, for sure.
Duke won its only game of the week in a dominant effort against Incarnate Word, which did not require much effort beyond the base talent of the players on the roster.
Their schedule will get a bit more difficult when they start playing some ACC teams. This week, they’ll contend with George Mason on Tuesday, prior to a showdown with Georgia Tech this coming Saturday afternoon.
Florida continues a steady rise up the Top 25 rankings with another convincing win against Arizona State, showcasing the talent and depth of the roster.
The Gators are undefeated at 10-0, and their star is continuing to ascend. They have a showdown with North Carolina on Tuesday in the Jumpman Invitational, and a clash with North Florida scheduled for this coming Saturday, as well.
Alabama picked up a “rivalry” win against Creighton, which has becoming a valuable part of the schedule for fans. Additionally, the game also gave a first glimpse at Chris Youngblood.
The Crimson Tide are now 8-2 on the season and getting on a bit of a roll. They’ll have two games this week, a Wednesday clash with North Dakota, and a showdown with Kent State on Sunday afternoon.
It was a solid bounce back week for Kansas. They picked up a win against NC State, which did not require much strain, but will again help the Big 12 in its case against other conferences, like the ACC.
The Jayhawks don’t have to stress much before Christmas. They only have one game before the holiday, and it’ll come against Brown on this coming Sunday.
Marquette fell to Dayton in their only game of the past week. The Flyers defeated the Golden Eagles by eight, handing them their second loss of the season.
Perhaps a quick bounce back is in order for Marquette, at least. They’re facing Butler on Wednesday, a home showdown where they can get their mojo back before the end of 2024.
Oregon jumped back into the top ten with another victory after a previous loss to UCLA. The Ducks exercised some demons with an 18-point win over SF Austin this past Sunday.
They’re not in action again until Saturday evening. A former Pac-12 showdown is on the docket, as Oregon will face Stanford in the San Jose Tip-Off on Big Ten Network.
