England goalkeeper Atkinson is leaving Legia Warsaw after a year and a half with the club.
The Cumbrian confirmed he was moving on in a social media post.
He wrote on Instagram: “After 18 incredible months of being a Legia Warsaw player, it is time for me to say goodbye.
“A huge thank you to the fans, players and staff for making me feel so welcome from day one.
“Your support has meant a lot, and I’ll always cherish my time here.
“Excited for what the future holds and looking forward to the next chapter.”
Atkinson added that there would be some “big news” on his future coming soon, the goalkeeper saying 2025 was going to be a “major year”.
The player from Belle Vue is one of the country’s top amputee players, having been England’s No1 for some time now.
He has played for England in European Championships and also helped the country to Nations League success.
The Carlisle footballer has also starred for Portsmouth with whom he has also won silverware.
Atkinson’s profile also soared in the autumn when he was a contestant on the Channel 4 show Big Brother. He made it to the last week of the show before being evicted ahead of the final.
