The Nevada football season has come and gone with some of the Wolf Pack’s seniors now preparing for pro opportunities. While no Nevada players are locks to be selected in the NFL draft, several have a chance of getting into a training camp, either via a draft selection or an undrafted free-agent deal. On Wednesday’s NSN Tonight, we ran a feature on departing Nevada wideout Jaden Smith and discussed his draft prospects along with other seniors on the 2024 roster. You can watch the full segment below and read capsules on each player below that. Players are listed in alphabetical order.
* WR Cortez Braham Jr.: Braham was a one-year player for Nevada after two seasons at West Virginia and had the best year of his college career, catching 56 passes for 723 yards and four touchdowns. He was probably Nevada’s best route runner and most complete wideout this season. He has good size (6-foot-2, 201 pounds) and competitiveness and could get into a rookie camp after the draft.
* CB Michael Coats Jr.: Coats was Nevada’s only first- or second-team All-MW honoree this season after ranking second in the FBS in passes defended (17) while intercepting four passes. He had 41 tackles, too. Coats’ biggest issue is his size, as he’s listed at 5-foot-10 and 173 pounds, so he might have a better shot at nickel cornerback. Coats didn’t play high school football and had just one season of extended FBS playing time (this year), so making it in the NFL would be an incredible story.
* S Kitan Crawford: The Texas transfer was a one-year wonder for the Wolf Pack who had a shot to test the NFL draft waters last season when he got an East-West Shrine Game invitation but opted to use a second senior season at Nevada to prove he could play defensive back at the next level. He showed some of those skills in 2024, recording 76 tackles, including three for loss, with two interceptions, a forced fumble and seven pass breakups. He’s an excellent athlete and Nevada’s top prospect.
* LB Tongiaki Mateialona: Mateialona was having a strong senior season before an arm injury knocked him out for a month. Despite missing three games, Mateialona had a career-best 61 tackles, including nine for loss. He added 1.5 sacks and two passes defended. The hard-hitter could get a rookie camp opportunity and try to get his foot into the door via special teams ala former Nevada safety/linebacker Nephi Sewell, who is in his third NFL season as an undrafted player.
* WR Jaden Smith: At 6-6 and 210 pounds, Smith is an elite red zone target, which makes up for his lack of top-end NFL speed. Smith spent six seasons in college but just one at the FBS level, so his sample size of film at that level is light. But in his lone season at Nevada, Smith caught 62 passes for 849 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging a good 13.7 yards per catch. His size and high-pointing ability could get him an NFL shot, and he gets high marks for character/intangibles.
* OL Isaiah World: The first five players on this list are all out of eligibility, but World is in a different situation. The left tackle who has started the last 34 games for Nevada entered the transfer portal this week and could use his senior season elsewhere while cashing in some NIL coin. But he also is likely to get a draftable grade back and could forgo his final season of college and try and make it in the NFL. He’s got options.
