In a tight contest that did not have any scoring until the bottom of the third inning and the top of the fourth inning, weather took control of the game at the top of the seventh inning and forced a delay with Badlands leading 2-1 at the weather break.
Minot was on the board first when Peyton Becker hit a triple and Anthony Potestio followed up with a double to score Becker for the run. Craig Schmich pitched the six innings prior to the delay and allowed two runs and seven hits. He also walked one batter, tallied nine strikeouts and allowed one home run.
Badlands Tanner Sears hit the home run at the top of the fourth inning on the first pitch to score Cole Tabor who was walked for the 2-1 lead in the game. Sears hitting a home run helped his cause as he pitched the six innings prior to delay and allowed one run on five hits. He walked one batter and recorded four strikeouts.
At the point of delay, Minot had garnered five hits. Potestio was 2-for-3 batting with an RBI prior to the delay. Becker was also 2-for-3 and scored one run. Keanu Jacobs-Guishard was 1-for-2 for the fifth hit after six innings.
Badlands had seven hits prior to stoppage. Kaden Carpenter was a perfect 3-for-3 at the point of delay. Luke Shannahan was 2-for-3 and Zach Selfon was 1-for-3 at the plate. Sears was also 1-for-3 with two RBIs from the home run.
Each team had one error in the game through six innings. The entire game will be reported on in the next issue of the Minot Daily News.
