Bengals coach Zac Taylor believes that Joe Burrow is the NFL’s best player, even though Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson may be MVP candidates. Zac Taylor made his vote for Burrow following a thrilling overtime win over the Broncos, as he led his team to the victory. Against the Broncos, Burrow had a fantastic game, completing 39 of 49 passes for 412 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. The Bengals are hoping to get a win next week and gain more support, for Burrow is considered the best player in the world, and in the playoffs, he would be the most important player.
The race for the NFL MVP will probably be between Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, but Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor believes Joe Burrow is the best football player in the world. Despite not competing for the award because the Bengals can’t seem to hold on to playoff hopes, Burrow has been incredible all season. Taylor said that after a dramatic overtime win with 412 yards and four touchdowns, he’s the best player in football.
“I don’t know that anyone can stand on a field and watch Joe Burrow and say that he’s not the best player in the world,” Taylor said after the game. “And you can transfer that argument to [Bengals wide receiver] Ja’Marr Chase as well. And you can argue those two to death. But the clearest thing I can say is I would not trade Joe Burrow for any player in the universe, and so to me that’s MVP.”
Burrow outdueled Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix, making potential game-winning throws. He ran for a touchdown with 1:29 left in regulation, set up a 33-yard field goal in overtime that Cade York missed, and sealed the deal with an overtime touchdown to Tee Higgins, his third scoring connection of the night with the star wide receiver.
The Bengals, currently 8-8, need to beat the Steeelers in Week 18 and face several challenges including a Kansas City Chiefs win against the Broncos, losses by the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts, and a resting starters win against the Broncos. Burrow’s MVP case is compelling, given his impressive season with 4,641 passing yards, 42 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, if Cincinnati can reach the postseason.
