The crossbow is a long-ranged weapon offering power and incredible range, enabling the players to hit enemies from distant places. To win any fight, it’s important to have this powerful weapon despite it being one of the most underrated weapons of Minecraft. Especially when paired with the right enchantments, it works just right.
Whether taking on a horde of zombies or simply engaging in PvP battles, applying the best enchantments can turn the crossbow into a game-changer. Some top crossbow enchantments that would help to dominate on the battlefield are discussed below.
A big drawback of the crossbows is the slow reloading speed. This is where Quick Charge comes in. As an enchantment , it reduces the time taken for loading the bolt, making the crossbow nearly as fast as the bow at the higher levels.
While Quick Charge I reduces the reload time by 0.25 seconds, Quick Charge II and Quick Charge III do it by 0.5 and 0.75 seconds, respectively. It makes it faster than the standard bow. So, for players relying only on rapid-fire attacks, this enchantment is one to have.
Why fire just one arrow when you can do 3? Multishot allows players to shoot 3 arrows/fireworks at a time, spreading them out slightly. The best part of it is that it consumes 1 arrow per shot. It makes it extremely efficient.
However, the enchantment comes with one drawback. It deals with extra durability damage. Whenever it is fired, the crossbow loses 3 durability points (not 1). It means the player needs to repair it more often. But when it is paired with Mending or Unbreaking, the downside is manageable.
When facing multiple enemies in a straight line, Piercing can be your best friend. The enchantment allows the arrows to pass through various targets. It can hit up to 5 mobs at the maximum level or Piercing IV. It is also useful in PvP, as the arrow ignores the shield. It makes it effective against the well-armored opponents.
An added bonus with this enchantment is that, unlike the Multishot, the arrows fired using Piercing can be picked again. It saves the players resources in the long battles.
Note: Using both Piercing and Multishot on the same crossbow isn’t possible. So, choose wisely, as per your combat style.
Any powerful weapon is useless if the same breaks too easily. Unbreaking as the enchantment increases the crossbow’s lifespan. It reduces the durability loss chances. While Unbreaking I reduce 50% durability loss, Unbreaking II and Unbreaking III reduce it by 66% and 75%, respectively.
With the Unbreaking III, the crossbow can fire approx. 1856 shots before it breaks, as compared to the 464 shots without enchantment. This makes it important, especially for players using Multishot.
Unbreaking can slow down the durability loss, but Mending completely removes the concern. The enchantment automatically helps repair the crossbow with the experience points (XP). Instead of the XP moving forward to the level bar, it instead restores the durability of the weapon directly.
While the enchantment is rare and cannot be obtained via the Enchanting Table, it is worth seeking out treasure chests or the Librarian villagers. Combined with the Unbreaking enchantment, the crossbow would last forever.
Unlike previously discussed enchantments, this one isn’t beneficial in most situations. But when applied to the crossbow, it makes the weapon disappear after the death of the player, preventing it from being looted by the enemies.
It’s useful in the PvP cases, where the player does not wish the opponent to take the powerful weapons. But in regular gameplay, it is more of a hindrance than a help, as the player loses the crossbow permanently upon death.
A crossbow is a devastating weapon in Minecraft, especially when it’s paired with enchantments. These enchantments ensure the weapons last longer. So, choose wisely as per your play style. With it, you can ensure that you have a crossbow that will take on anything the game throws at you.
