The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Dallas Cowboys 27-20 on “Monday Night Football.” Cincinnati improved to 5-8 while Dallas fell to 5-8.
The biggest sequence of the game came on a bizarre punt-block-turned-muff by the Cowboys’ special teams unit — Dallas blocked a Bengals punt but muffed the recovery attempt, giving Cincinnati a new set of downs. And given another chance, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase immediately connected for a 40-yard game-winning touchdown.
The two continued thriving Monday amid an otherwise dismal season for the Bengals. Burrow had a 75 percent completion rate and 369 yards, 177 of which went to Chase — who also had two touchdowns.
Both teams are now three games below .500 and clinging to hope in their respective playoff races, but it’s the Bengals who have some momentum as they head into a do-or-die final four weeks of the regular season.
