Briles filled up the stat sheet in just about every category possible, posting a quadruple-double during a 59-21 victory against Prairie Valley in District 18-A action. Briles finished with 22 points, 14 steals, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
On a night when Munday renamed its old gym after longtime girls coach Dan Sloan, Williams went off for 22 points in the main gym, scoring a game-high 22 points in a 67-44 victory against District 16-A rival Knox City.
Sloan coached for 31 years, including 24 at Munday, where he led teams in every sport. During his time at Munday, Sloan won 446 basketball games. He also led Munday to three state titles in track and two in cross country. He was the 1990 Texas Girls Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
McGuire continued to have a hot hand in Seymour’s dominant 70-25 victory against District 9-2A foe Petrolia on Tuesday. McGuire nearly outscored Petrolia by herself with 22 points.
The Lady Bulldogs blasted Castleberry, 100-6, in District 7-4A action Tuesday with five players reaching double figures. It was Vincent leading the way with 21 points, white teammate Taylor Fields added 20.
It was Gould’s turn to lead the Bulldogs on the scoreboard, posting a team-high 20 points in an 87-56 victory against Castleberry in District 7-4A action.
Simmons had a strong double-double performance in a double-overtime 46-41 victory against Electra in District 9-2A action, scoring 18 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
