On3, a recruiting and and media outlet, puts out updated NIL valuations for college athletes every Wednesday. According to the site, their valuation “establishes the overall NIL market and projected 12-month growth rate for an Athlete by measuring two categories: Roster Value and NIL.” Essentially it measures their value to their team plus any sponsorships and advertising opportunites.
Obviously these are just one sites estimates, but in a brand new world of college football, it’s interesting to see how the market for these athletes plays out. So how does the top five of the Badger football roster compare nationally?

It’s not too shocking to see the starting quarterback at the top of the list. What is a little surprising is that not a single Badger cracks the top 100 in NIL for college football players. That’s not to say the Badgers don’t do a great job in the portal and recruiting, because I believe they do, but it’s something to look at in the coming years as NIL becomes more defined and less of the wild, wild west.
