Landon Silinsky provides his top golf bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The PGA TOUR continues its Florida swing this week in Orlando for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Bay Hill Club and Lodge will be the host, and measures as a 7,466-yard par 72 with Bermuda grass greens.
This will be the fourth Signature event of the season, and the second one that features a cut. As per usual for these Signature Events, all of the heavy hitters will be in attendance, but we get a nice bonus this week as Xander Schauffele will be making his return after a two-month absence due to a rib injury.
Below I have outlined my two favorite bets for the week.
Very quietly, McNealy has been one of the hottest golfers on the PGA TOUR these past few months. He’s posted four top-nine finishes over his past nine starts, including a win at the RSM Classic back in November, a T8 at the Sentry to open the new year, and then a runner-up finish at the Genesis three weeks ago.
His game is firing on all cylinders right now, ranking sixth in this field in SG: Putting, ninth in SG: Ball-Striking and 10th in Total Strokes Gained over his past 24 rounds. McNealy has gotten himself up all the way to No. 12 in the world rankings, which should not come as a surprise considering how highly touted he was coming out of college. He was the No. 1 ranked amateur golfer in the world at one point, and even tied Tiger Woods’ record for college wins at Stanford.
McNealy has never had much success at Bay Hill in his career, but he’s a far superior golfer now to when he last teed it up here in 2022, and the fact he’s seen the course four times already is more than enough for me. It should be a track he could handle as well, as he has above both average distance and an ability to spike with his irons, as we last saw at Genesis where gained 6.6 strokes on approach.
McNealy is finally putting it all together at age 29, and the fact he’s still 45/1 this week despite his recent play should be considered incredible value, especially since he was so close to winning at Torrey Pines just a few weeks back.
After a slow start to the season, Bhatia has seemed to have found his groove. He finished T9 at the Genesis before adding another ninth-place finish in Mexico, where a few small mistakes cost him a chance at contending.
During this eight-round stretch, the 23-year-old has gained a combined 10.3 strokes from tee-to-green and 6.7 strokes ball-striking, the former of which ranks him ninth in this field over that span. Bhatia has yet to play Bay Hill before, but his previous success at other long courses — such as TPC San Antonio and Torrey Pines — suggests that he should be able to the handle the difficulties that Arnie’s place will present.
Many people believe Bhatia is going to elevate to an elite-level talent sooner rather than later, and to do that he will need to take down a Signature Event. At 70/1 this week in a smaller field, I will take my chances that he’s in contention come Sunday.
