After convincing wins last week at BYU and home against Texas Tech, Arizona men’s basketball was rewarded Monday as the biggest riser in the AP Top 25.
The Wildcats jumped seven spots to No. 13 in the AP poll for their highest ranking since the third week of the season.
Arizona (17-6) is one of four Big 12 teams ranked in the top 15. Houston at No. 6 is the top ranked team in the conference followed by Iowa State at No. 9.
Arizona is one spot behind No. 12 Texas Tech, who lost to the Wildcats 82-73 Saturday. Meanwhile, Kansas fell to No. 17.
Arizona received 701 votes this week compared to 308 a week ago.
Auburn remains No. 1, followed by Alabama, Florida, Duke and Tennessee.
Arizona has won five straight games against Top 25 opponents and has an opportunity to grab another ranked win Saturday when it hosts Houston. Before that, the Wildcats must face red hot Kansas State on the road Tuesday.
