Chelsea are expected to be busy in the final two weeks of the January transfer window with a big-money move for Alejandro Garnacho potentially triggering a series of deals
Chelsea are set to be active in the final fortnight of the January transfer window, with all eyes on a potential blockbuster deal for Alejandro Garnacho.
A move could set off a chain reaction of deals at Manchester United and throughout the Premier League in what could prove to be a hectic end to the month.
Enzo Maresca’s team have stumbled in their quest for the title, slipping to fourth place. The Italian manager’s squad would benefit from being strengthened in the coming weeks.
Here’s all the latest transfer news from Stamford Bridge.
Garnacho makes decision
Chelsea have been vying with Napoli for the signature of United forward Garnacho this month. Reports from Argentina suggest that the 20-year-old has made up his mind about which of the two interested clubs he’d like to join.
TyC Sports report that Garnacho would prefer to stay in the Premier League, indicating a preference for Chelsea. The Blues are reportedly eager to reinforce the left side of their attack.
United have allegedly reduced their asking price for Garnacho in a bid to generate funds for Ruben Amorim’s own transfer plans. While it was previously reported that the Red Devils were asking for £60m, Sky Italia now suggests that the price tag has been lowered to £55m.
United need to sell before they can spend the amounts required to complete Amorim’s revamp.
Fernandez swap deal
Real Madrid are reportedly considering an ambitious swap deal for Enzo Fernandez. Los Blancos continue to assemble a new generation of Galacticos, and Fernandez is believed to be on their radar.
Spanish outlet D Sports reports that Real Madrid are prepared to offer Aurelien Tchouameni to Chelsea in an attempt to secure their vice-captain Fernandez. However, it seems highly unlikely that the Blues would entertain such a proposal, considering they only signed the Argentine international in 2023 for a hefty £107m.
Hijacking Arsenal move
Chelsea could potentially hijack Arsenal‘s pursuit of striker Benjamin Sesko. Reports suggest that the Blues are gearing up to ‘accelerate’ their interest in the RB Leipzig star.
Maresca is on the hunt for a top-tier forward as Nicolas Jackson’s inconsistency has been a source of frustration for fans. A deal for Sesko, reportedly valued at £67m, would see Arsenal lose out on a player they targeted in the summer and have allegedly continued to track.
The Telegraph claims that Chelsea are keen to push ahead with a deal for 21-year-old Sesko and fast-track their plans to sign a new forward, originally slated for the summer.
