Akasa Air continues its rapid expansion, taking delivery of its 27th aircraft as it progresses toward receiving 199 more over the next seven years. The latest Boeing 737 MAX, registered VT-YBD, arrived in Bengaluru on January 29, 2025, marking another milestone in the airline’s growth trajectory.
Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO, Akasa Air, emphasised the airline’s long-term vision, stating, “Every addition to our fleet cements our path to becoming one of the top 30 airlines by the turn of this decade. Since its launch in August 2022, Akasa Air has rapidly expanded, placing multiple aircraft orders—including a landmark deal for 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in January 2024—bringing its total order book to 226 aircraft. The airline prioritizes sustainability, with the fuel-efficient 737 MAX reducing carbon emissions by 20% and featuring a 40% smaller noise footprint.
With a strong domestic and international presence, Akasa Air has served over 15 million passengers and currently operates in 22 Indian and five international cities, including Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait City.
