The Velva-Garrison-Drake/Anamoose Aggies brought the farm with them when they traveled to Surrey to take on the Mustangs. Fans from both communities lined the field and parking was scarce as the early game began. The traveling fans did have more points to cheer for with the 66-6 Aggies win, but both teams had athletes making plays. The home team Mustangs just had fewer of them.
The game started with the Aggies returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown, recovering a fumble less than two minutes later and scoring their second score before five minutes had ticked off the clock in the first quarter of play.
The depth of the Velva roster would wear down the hosting Mustangs as the Aggies built to the win in the end. Big plays were a significant portion of the game on both sides of the line. Moving the ball for each team proved to be possible, but the Mustangs lacked the depth to give their athletes enough time for water breaks in the course of action.
Velva will travel next week to face Nedrose while Surrey will travel to Ray/Powers Lake for another battle.
