The 2025 Adelaide International is set to deliver a spectacular start to the new year, offering a blend of world-class tennis and vibrant local entertainment. Hosted at The Drive from January 6-11, the event will see a formidable line-up of tennis stars from around the globe compete in a WTA 500 and ATP 250 tournament.
Following a record-breaking year in 2024 where the Adelaide International attracted 51,117 attendees, the upcoming edition is anticipated to maintain, if not exceed, this level of success. With the inclusion of 16 top-20 players, the tournament’s draw is strikingly competitive. Noteworthy entrants include women’s top-10 players such as Jasmine Paolini, Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro, Dara Kastakina, and Barbora Krejcikova. Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to see 2023 Wimbledon champion, Marketa Vondrousova and former world No. 2, Ons Jabeur, who is making a comeback after an injury hiatus.
The men’s field will also see captivating matches with entrants like Tommy Paul, Lorenzo Musetti, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Sebastian Korda, and Australian favourite Matthew Ebden, who will be in the doubles competition.
Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, shared her excitement about the event, highlighting Adelaide’s appeal to players due to its unique blend of convenience, high-quality food and beverage, and outdoor activities. “Welcoming back world-class tennis to Adelaide will be an epic way to kickstart 2025,” Bettison stated.
“I cannot wait to welcome these superstars of tennis and their teams and families when they descend on South Australia next month for the Adelaide International 2025.
“Each year players tell us how much they enjoy playing in Adelaide thanks to the convenience of our unique city, world class food and beverage served up at every meal, and classic Aussie outdoor adventures to be had so close by.
“We saw incredibly strong ticket sales last year and the same is expected again in 2025, especially with the Kids Day event which sold out this year. This is the perfect opportunity for parents to treat the family filled with fun, free activities for the kids and world class tennis for the adults.
“I encourage everyone to come out to the Adelaide International to enjoy world class action at The Drive, live entertainment, as well as local produce and fun activities that will keep everyone enthralled on and off court.”
Alicia Molik, Tournament Director, reinforced the high calibre of players the tournament consistently attracts, ensuring top-tier tennis action for fans. “The calibre of both the ATP and WTA players entered to compete at the Adelaide International is really pleasing and means that tennis fans are going to see high-quality, world-class tennis once again,” Molik remarked.
“Both the men’s and women’s competitions feature two exceptionally strong fields. The Adelaide International is known for providing the best player experience, and we’re eager to welcome the emerging stars of world tennis to The Drive and South Australia.
“It is great to see Jiri Lehecka, 2024 Adelaide International men’s winner and Jelena Ostapenko, 2024 Adelaide International women’s winner return to defend the title.”
Adding to the sports action, the Pinky Flat on Adelaide’s Riverbank will offer expanded attractions including live entertainment, a designated family zone, food trucks, and more, ensuring a festive atmosphere throughout the tournament period.
The Adelaide International will also set the stage for a series of major events in South Australia including the 25th Santos Tour Down Under, LIV Golf Adelaide, Adelaide Fringe, WOMADelaide, and the AFL Gather Round, making it a cornerstone event in an exciting season of sports and cultural festivities.
Debbie Sterrey, Tennis SA CEO and Adelaide International General Manager, confirmed that preparations are well underway. She said “Today’s entry list announcement confirms that the Adelaide International 2025 will be the only place in South Australia this summer to see world class tennis.”
As the sole international tennis event in South Australia during the summer, the Adelaide International promises to offer an unmatched spectator experience both on and off the court.
