INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 27 (UPI) — Doctors have advised Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter, the potential top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and dealing with an injury to his right foot, not to have surgery, agent Drew Rosenhaus said Thursday.
“I couldn’t be more confident that this will be a non-factor where he’s drafted,” Rosenhaus told ESPN. “He will put on a show at his pro day.”
Tests revealed Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine that Carter sustained a stress reaction in his right foot. Rosenhaus, who said Wednesday that Carter was considering surgery, now says that doctors don’t think an operation is after they did additional testing.
Carter, who is expected to skip drills at the combine, is on track to work out for scouts March 28 at Penn State’s pro day.
Carter is recovering from a shoulder injury, and told reporters Wednesday that he was about 90% healthy, but did not talk about the foot injury. He said he expects to be “really close to 100%” in the next month.
“I feel like I’m the best player in the country, and the best player should be selected No. 1,” the 6-foot-3, 248-pound pass rusher said at the combine.
Carter appeared in all 42 of Penn State’s games over his three-year collegiate tenure. He totaled a dozen sacks and a national-best 24 tackles for a loss over 16 appearances last season for the Nittany Lions.
