The 16 teams in the Class AA postseason were officially slotted into the SoDak 16 matchups on Monday, with Sioux Falls O’Gorman claiming the top girls seed and Sioux Falls Lincoln claiming the No. 1 seed in the boys postseason.
In the Class AA girls SoDak 16, which will be played on Friday, March 7, the 20-0 Knights will host 16th-seeded Sturgis for a trip to the state tournament. Brandon Valley is the No. 2 seed after an 18-2 season and will take on 15th-seeded Watertown. Sioux Falls Washington, which was the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 14 Tea Area, and Rapid City Stevens rounded out the top-four seeds in the Class AA postseason.
In the boys SoDak 16, which will take place on Saturday, March 8, Lincoln (19-1) will take the No. 1 seed and will face Yankton. Brandon Valley, Harrisburg and Mitchell all were 17-3, but the Lynx claimed the No. 2 seed and will host Pierre in the SoDak 16, while Harrisburg picked up the No. 3 slot and will host Rapid City Stevens. Fourth-seeded and defending state champions Mitchell will welcome Rapid City Central for a SoDak 16 matchup.
A pair of all-Sioux Falls matchups will take place in the boys SoDak 16 on Saturday, with No. 6 O’Gorman hosting No. 11 Roosevelt, and No. 7 Washington hosting No. 10 Jefferson for berths in the state tournament.
There is no re-seeding in the Class AA postseason, with the eight SoDak 16 winners feeding directly into the state tournament bracket.
Both Class AA state tournaments are in Rapid City, with the girls at Summit Arena on March 13-15, with the boys taking over the Summit Arena on March 20-22.
