Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
El Rio has looked a different horse this season and, given those he made light work of at Kempton, a 7lb rise could be lenient. While he could be too progressive for these, one nagging concern is that there could be a contested lead.
A strong pace would benefit SAIL AWAY, who is well handicapped if he is as good as he was. There were positives to take from his penultimate run. Dibble Decker and Lounge Lizard are respected as past winners of this race.
Several of these from leading yards have questions marks over them. MONBEG PARK doesn’t, coming here on the back of a good third over C&D at the Dublin Racing Festival, and gets the vote ahead of the lightly-weighted pair Tyre Kicker and Broomfield Bijou.
164 yards are added to the advertised distance. There’s a seriously uncomfortable number of unexposed sorts in this race, many of them 4yos on their handicap debuts, but the Sedgefield runner-up JIM DE SARTI appeals most on the recent handicap evidence, followed by Dickens.
An interesting rematch between the hat-trick seeking One Horse Army and Brandt who finished second to that rival at Fairyhouse when slightly hampered on the run-in.
Preference, however, is for BRUCEJACK, who is proven at the trip and whose recent Punchestown maiden second has been franked by the winner. The yard also had a winner at Navan on Saturday.
