The 2025 NFL Draft grows closer by the day. On Monday, FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt revealed his Top-5 rankings of the quarterbacks entering the draft, along with several honorable mentions.
Quarterbacks from around the country will gather in Indianapolis this week to try to impress scouts at the annual NFL Scouting Combine. The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Before QB prospects have a chance to improve their draft stock this week, Klatt disclosed his personal rankings.
Joel Klatt sang Shedeur Sanders’ praises before the 2024 campaign kicked off and his success this season only cemented Klatt’s beliefs. The Colorado QB completed 74.2% of his pass attempts this season, the highest completion percentage in the country, for 3,926 passing yards and 35 touchdowns
“He is more ready now to go in and be the starting quarterback than anybody else in this draft,” Klatt said. “He is the one that is ready right now. You can plug him into an NFL offense next week and he could start for you. He is that smart. He is that capable.”
Cam Ward transferred to Miami this past offseason and made the most of his opportunity in the spotlight. Ward finished the 2024 regular season with 4,123 passing yards and 36 touchdowns, the most in the nation.
“Ward is a bit of a gunslinger, which I like by the way,” Klatt said. “But he’ll take some chances out there. He’s got a great arm. He will drift away a little bit. He will hold the ball a little bit too long at times. But, man, he is the reason Miami was able to do what they were able to do.”
In the 2024 campaign, Dart recorded career-highs of 3,875 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. His 322.9 passing yards per game were the most in the SEC. With great size and above-average arm strength, the Rebels’ all-time passing leader impressed Klatt this season.
“He’s a solid athlete. If you put him on the field in the National Football League, he’s not going to get overwhelmed. He’s going to be able to escape a little bit, and from that standpoint I like his game,” Klatt said. “There are going to be teams with a quarterback need who do not get one of those top two guys and they will certainly look at a guy like Jaxson Dart.”
Jalen Milroe notched 719 yards and 20 touchdowns in the ground game this season. However, his passing was often inconsistent, ultimately throwing 10 interceptions compared to 15 touchdowns. While Klatt doesn’t deny that Milroe has room for growth, he also believes the Alabama QB is worth taking a risk on.
“He’s so incredible as an athlete that you just have to take a look. He’s so explosive. He’s immediately the most dangerous player on the field as soon as he steps foot on the field,” Klatt said. “He makes hard things look really easy.”
Will Howard did wonders for his draft stock while leading Ohio State to its first national title since 2014. In his lone season with the Buckeyes, Howard amassed 4,010 passing yards and 35 touchdowns while only throwing 10 interceptions.
Howard’s arm wasn’t his only threat. The 6-foot-4 QB also racked up 226 yards and seven TDs in the ground game this past season. In his five-year career, Howard racked up 9,796 total passing yards. Now, he’ll have a chance to find similar success at the next level.
