KYLIAN MBAPPE SCORES HAT-TRICK AS REAL MADRID MOVE FOUR POINTS CLEAR OF ATLETICO MADRID
Kylian Mbappe scored his first Real Madrid hat-trick as he helped Real Madrid to a 3-0 win over Real Valladolid and extended their lead at the top of La Liga.
The Frenchman broke the deadlock inside 30 minutes when he curled a shot past Valladolid goalkeeper Karl Hein after a neat one-two with Jude Bellingham.
He doubled Real Madrid’s lead in the 57th minute when Rodrygo darted into the final third, before picking out Mbappe, whose shot found the bottom corner.
There was late drama in Valladolid as Bellingham was the victim of a dangerous tackle from Mario Martin. Despite the referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer waving play on, it was the VAR who intervened before a penalty was awarded and Martin subsequently headed for an early shower having been shown a second yellow card.
Mbappe wasted no time as he stepped up, sending Hein the wrong way to complete his first Real Madrid hat-trick.
Madrid go four points clear of Atletico Madrid, whilst opening a gap of ten points over Barcelona. Valladolid sit adrift at the bottom of the standings, five points from safety.
Next up, Real Madrid are back in European action as they face French side Brest in their final group stage match of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, January 29 – live on TNT Sports and discovery+ – before they face Espanyol on Saturday, February 1.
