The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has welcomed Troy Haas, CEO of Brownell to its distinguished membership, bringing unparalleled expertise in global luxury travel.
Founded in 1887, Brownell is North America’s oldest travel agency, rooted in innovation since its inception. What started as a bold venture with 10 intrepid travellers aboard the SS Devonia to Switzerland, has grown into one of the most prestigious travel agencies in the world.
Under the leadership of Troy Haas, who joined Brownell in 1993 and risen to become Chairman & CEO, the agency and its advisors have shattered milestones and redefined luxury travel for hundreds of thousands of travellers.
Before joining Brownell, Haas earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He spent several years at consulting firm Bain & Company where he worked in the travel and leisure industry and dreamed of the potential for an agency with a strong advisor community. Haas then returned to Birmingham, Alabama, to become an owner of the then 100-year-old Brownell. Eager to transition to lead in role that better aligned with his personality, passion for travel, and strengths in strategy, big-picture thinking, and networking, Haas has enjoyed an exiting 31-year run fulfilling his vision.
Julia Simpson, President & CEO, WTTC, said, “Troy carries forward the pioneering spirit that began with Walter Brownell nearly 140 years ago. His experience and leadership will be invaluable to WTTC as we continue shaping the future of Travel & Tourism.”
Troy Haas said, “Joining WTTC is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with leaders who share my vision for a thriving and sustainable future for Travel & Tourism. Together, we can inspire travellers and elevate the industry to new heights.”
