After knocking off Seventh Region rival Assumption on Sunday, Sacred Heart Academy kept the No. 1 spot in this week’s Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Media Poll.
The Valkyries (11-2) beat Assumption 73-42 to run their winning streak against Kentucky competition to 82.
Following Sacred Heart in the top five are George Rogers Clark (9-5), Cooper (9-3), Franklin County (15-3) and North Laurel (14-0).
North Laurel and No. 10 Madison Central (16-0) are the only undefeated teams remaining in Kentucky.
Owensboro Catholic (11-3) joined the top 15 at No. 15, and Highlands dropped out.
The Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Media Poll is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state’s 16 basketball regions. The poll will be released online each Tuesday morning throughout the regular season.
Along with the statewide top 15, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
