Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
Competitive stuff. Top weight Hunters Yarn can be expected to improve for his Hilly Way run in his first handicap chase. The King Of Prs has gone close last twice and looks the pick of the Cromwell trio, although stablemate Midnight It Is deserves a crack at a race like this.
American Mike could figure with better jumping. The selection is LETS GO CHAMP after a cracking effort in the Paddy Power Gold Cup. He could well appreciate this drop back in trip.
Strong in-form candidates include topweight Apiarist, the hat-trick-seeking Eagle Day, and last month’s emphatic Newcastle scorer Quiet Resolve, but a chance is taken with the well-handicapped MR BALOO, who had an excuse for a below-par run last time and could be revitalized by headgear. Urban Sprawl (second choice) and Altmore complete the shortlist.
Studious did it well when making a successful nursery debut over 8.6f at Wolverhampton 12 days ago, but dropping back to 7f may pose a question given the way he went about it.
Preference is for SWEET CICELY, who improved for the step up to this trip when runner-up on nursery debut at the same venue last time. She may be even more effective on this stiffer track. Herkeios is well worth a second look now upped in trip on handicap debut.
There’s unlikely to be any hanging about with Keep Running in attendance, and the Ludlow winner is second choice. However, TRIPLE TRADE is accustomed to keeping better company than this, and there was enough to take out of his Cheltenham run to believe he’s ready to exploit a good mark. Beat Box continues to surprise, and Ostrava Du Berlais goes up in grade with the wind in her sails.
