Novak Djokovic is known to take his frustration out on members of his coaching team when things don’t go his way while Andy Murray also “liked to honour his team with some not very nice comments” during his playing days.
So no surprise that Andrey Rublev is looking forward to exchanges between the two when they team up as player and coach during the upcoming season.
Djokovic has appointed Murray as his coach and the former world No 1 will take charge during the off-season and at the 2025 Australian Open.
Both are fiery characters with Djokovic not afraid to point and shout at those in his player’s box during his matches while Murray was also never shy to have a word or two with his coaches.
Djokovic’s former coach Goran Ivanisevic admitted before he parted ways with the tennis great that the 24-time Grand Slam winner is difficult to manage when he is losing.
“Who am I to get angry with him? He is the best player in the history of tennis,” the Croatian said.
“Sometimes I can only get mad at him when he yells at us for no reason. When he loses a match, he always gives his best and tries his best. But it’s not easy to deal with him when he’s losing.”
World No 8 Rublev says he is looking forward to the exchanges between the two, especially when Djokovic “gets emotional”.
“Andy, when he was playing, liked to honour his team with some not very nice comments, so I want to see if Novak will make such comments to him too, because Novak can sometimes get very emotional… That’s why I can’t wait to see how Murray will react in such situations,” he told Tennis Weekly.

Coaching Djokovic will be Murray’s first big job since he retired as a player in August this year.
With Djokovic already winning all there is to win in tennis, Rublev admits he is not sure “what Murray can bring” to the table.
“Novak Djokovic is one of the best players ever, he knows everything about tennis, that’s why I don’t know what Murray can bring him!?” he asked.
“The good thing is that they are good friends, so the energy will be positive. Novak can notice something different and therefore feel fresher and more motivated, and that sometimes means more than other things at that level.”
