COLUMBIA — There wasn’t much wrong with South Carolina women’s basketball‘s offense to start the top-10 matchup against Duke on Thursday night, and despite a sloppier second half, the No. 4 Gamecocks (8-1) snapped the Blue Devils’ six game win streak with an 81-70 win.
South Carolina shot 11-of-18 (61%) from the field in the first quarter of the SEC/ACC Challenge. By halftime, South Carolina had held Duke’s two leading scorers, Ashlon Jackson and Reigan Richardson to three points each. The Gamecocks had 21 bench points in the first half, just 10 less than the Blue Devils (8-2) had as a team, with 14 points off turnovers as well.
Chloe Kitts led the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds, tying her career high in points.
South Carolina has a quick break before another top-15 matchup, traveling to Fort Worth to play No. 13 TCU on Sunday (7 p.m., ESPN2).
