As South Africa and India celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations and democracy, South Africa’s Tourism Minister, Patricia de Lille, will visit India in December 2024 to advance tourism and bilateral cooperation. During her week-long stay in New Delhi and Mumbai, Minister de Lille will engage with her Indian counterpart to address key areas, including streamlined visa processes, digital innovation, rural tourism, and improved air connectivity. She will also explore India’s advancements in AI-driven tourism solutions, reflecting South Africa’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge practices.
Under the theme “30 Years of Diplomatic Relations, 30 Years of Democracy, and South Africa’s G20 Presidency in 2025,” the Minister will address over 350 dignitaries to discuss sustainable tourism and accessibility for Indian travelers. Additionally, she will host a strategic dinner with top CEOs from Indian corporations like Air India, Indigo, and Tata Group, alongside sports leaders, to foster collaborative ventures. This visit will also underscore bilateral cooperation across critical sectors such as infrastructure, energy, ICT, and agriculture, emphasising shared growth.
Nombulelo Guliwe, CEO, South African Tourism highlighted the importance of this milestone, calling it a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations. The week-long engagement is expected to deepen ties and celebrate the vibrant cultural connections that have flourished over decades.
