Kanye West Sued By America’s Next Top Model For Alleged Sexual Assault On Music Video Set In 2010 (Credit: Twitter)
Kanye West aka Rapper Ye has recently been embroiled in a legal soup with a model who reportedly sued him for sexual assault and ‘strangulation’. This incident happened when they were shooting for a music video for La Roux’s In For The Kill in 2010.
According to Rolling Stone report, Jenifer An, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model filed a lawsuit against Kanye for alleging sexual assault. She claimed that he choked her with both hands and “rammed several fingers down her throat, continuously moved them in and out, and gagged her (which Plaintiff believed lasted for over a minute) to emulate forced oral sex, and screamed, ‘This is art. This is f–king art. I am like Picasso.’”
The incident took place while the video was being filmed at the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan in 2010. In the complaint filed in New York federal court, Jenifer said she was wearing lingerie and working as a background actor in the video. She claimed that when Kanye arrived on set, he pointed at her and said, “Give me the Asian girl.”
The lawsuit also claimed, “On camera, defendant West began to choke the plaintiff with one hand. He then wrapped his other hand around her neck and continued to strangle her with both hands.”
As per the reports, Jenifer said that no one helped her during the shoot and Kanye assaulted her, “in a manner similar to pornographic gagging/deep throat/BDSM fetishes.” The lawsuit says that the plaintiff had trouble breathing and felt like she briefly lost consciousness. When Kanye was done, her face was covered in saliva and her makeup was smudged.
Jenifer An also names Universal Music Group in the lawsuit, accusing the company of organising Kanye’s appearance in the video and not looking into the situation or taking any action afterwards.
She reportedly accused Kanye of sexual assault and strangulation and is asking for both compensation and punishment damages. Kanye and his representatives have not yet responded to the lawsuit.
This lawsuit is just one of many Kanye is dealing with, including legal actions from former staff at Donda Academy and accusations of copyright theft. An, who continues to work as a model and actress, describes herself as a feminist fighting for equal rights, especially for marginalised communities.
For the unversed, Kanye was also sued last week by a former Yeezy employee who claims that the rapper made anti-semitic rants and forced him to stay in a hotel suite while Kanye had loud sex in the next room—first with his wife Bianca Censori, and later with a masseuse.
