When football fans sit down to tune into the Week 12 NFL slate Sunday afternoon, they won’t hear two of the most popular voices on the broadcast.
Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are not in the booth this week. The duo that leads the top CBS broadcast team is enjoying a bye week — along with six NFL teams — in Week 12.
It’s been another busy season for the accomplished play-by-play voice and the former star quarterback for the Cowboys. Along with sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson, Nantz and Romo have been the A-squad once again for CBS, bringing the exciting action to screens all over.
While there may be no Nantz and Romo on Sunday, fans won’t have to wait long to hear the pair on the microphones again.

Here’s more on why Nantz and Romo aren’t on the broadcast in Week 12..
Romo and Nantz aren’t on the broadcast this week because they are pulling double duty in Week 13.
CBS is one of the three networks covering the Thanksgiving football slate, meaning the big guns are in action on the holiday. Romo and Nantz are kicking off the festivities at Ford Field, as they will be calling Lions-Bears at 12:30 p.m. ET.
After the Thanksgiving game, the two have a quick turnaround, as Nantz and Romo will be right back to work three days later on Sunday. It’s not known what game they will have yet, however, but they will be broadcasting from somewhere.
So, with a lackluster slate of games for Week 12, the network is giving the crew a breather in the middle of the season.

In previous seasons, it’s typically been the Sunday after Thanksgiving that Nantz and Romo get off. The duo typically works every week until after the holiday, getting a rest once the doubleheader is complete. CBS changed that slightly last year, with the pair getting a break the first weekend of December.
That once again was altered for 2024, giving the top team the day off before Thanksgiving.
