FIP Promotion India Padel Open : Meet Aryan Goveas, Ex Top-Ranked Junior Indian Tennis Player Making Waves In Padel
Building on the current pickleball fever, the much-awaited FIP Promotion India Padel Open is all set to storm India. Greater Noida’s Bennett University will be centre of attraction from November 21 to 24, where the upcoming global event will be bringing together 100+ players from across the globe to highlight this rapidly growing sport in the Delhi NCR region.
Having over 25 million active players across 110 countries, padel has clearly become one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and this tournament marks a big step in its rise within India.
At the upcoming international competition, India star Aryan Goveas is all set to grab eyeballs, when he takes the court with his partner Rahul Motwani.
Goveas, who was originally a tennis player, shifted to padel during the COVID-19 Pandemic. As a tennis player, he was once ranked as the highest-ranked junior player in the world even above Sumit Nagal and even faced current World No. 1 Jannik Sinner back in 2018. But life had other fate for him as Aryan exclaimed in an interview that if not the tennis court, he will forge his destiny on the padel court.
A former No. 1 tennis player from Maharashtra, he was part of the Indian team that clinched bronze in their very first appearance in the Asia Pacific Padel Cup held in Bali, Indonesia and now he will be setting his eyes on the FIP Promotion India Padel open title.
An ex-member of the Junior Indian Davis Cup team, padel gave him a new path in life after financial constraints and the COVID-19 forced him to take a break from tennis. He also happens to be a tennis as well as a padel coach and aims to play globally at the highest level in the next 5 years.
As per the FIP (International Padel Federation), he is ranked 1733rd in the world, making him one of the highest-ranked Indian players ahead of the big event. With the growing popularity of the sport and the kind of determination Aryan has, he can really go onto inspire many aspirants to take up the sport.
