Sean Barnard dives into the top player prop bets ahead of the NBA slate on November 10.
Amid the seven hours of commercial-free football, there are 11 games of NBA action on this Sunday slate.
The Houston Rockets will face off with the Detroit Pistons at 3:00 PM EST to kick off the day. The 2-7 Milwaukee Bucks will face the defending champion Boston Celtics and 3:30 PM EST and then the Indiana Pacers will play the New York Knicks at 5:00 PM EST. Several more matchups will be tipping off between 6:30-9:00 PM EST before the Lakers and Raptors play the final game at 9:30 PM EST.
While Sunday NFL football will steal the headlines, there is a great slate of matchups today leaving plenty of options on the betting board. While you can check out each matchup on DraftKings Sportsbook, here are my favorite player props for November 10.
There are a lot of problems with the Milwaukee Bucks, but Taurean Prince has not been one of them. The journeyman forward has stepped into a surprisingly large role in Milwaukee to start the season and has given the team good minutes. Through the opening nine games, he is playing 28.0 minutes per game and averaging 7.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He also has shot 53.3% from beyond the arc and has connected on 16 of his 30 three-point attempts this season.
While this percentage will surely regress as the season progresses, the volume of opportunities Prince is getting is encouraging. The 30-year-old has attempted three or more three-pointers in six of the nine games and made at least one three-pointer in every game this season. He also has made four three-pointers in two separate games this year.
Heading into the matchup with the Celtics, expect the Bucks to attempt to increase their three-point volume. Boston is leading the NBA in three-point volume attempting 51.4 per game with no other team attempting more than 44.7 per game. While Boston is uniquely equipped to be effective in this style of play, trading two-pointers for three-pointers will not do the Bucks any good. Expect Prince to be a beneficiary of this increased volume and for him to have plenty of opportunity to knock down at least two long-range shots.
Things are beginning to click for Karl-Anthony Towns with his new team. While the Knicks have had some growing pains following the roster turnover, they sit in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 4-4 record with their best basketball still to come.
Through his opening eight games with New York, Karl-Anthony Towns has averaged 24.3 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. He is coming off his best two games with the Knicks as Towns went for 34 points, 16 rebounds, and an assist on Wednesday before adding 32 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists in Friday’s victory. He has tallied over 37.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists in four of the eight games while being limited statistically in the first few weeks.
As the Knicks prepare to face off with the Indiana Pacers, expect New York to match their level of pace and offensive output. Towns is more equipped for this than most big men and should have plenty of opportunities for three-point attempts. It has felt like Towns is beginning to find his stride in recent games but has not reached his peak with the Knicks yet. Expect him to be a key part of the offense once again and for Towns to eclipse 37.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists for the fifth time this season.
The Miami Heat are set to face off with the Minnesota Timberwolves and are just 3-5 on the season. Terry Rozier has still yet to fully find his stride in a Heat jersey after coming to the team in a midseason trade last year. In the 31 games he spent with the Heat last year, Rozier averaged 16.4 points and 4.6 assists. This also comes after he averaged 23.2 points and 6.6 assists per game during the first half of the year with the Hornets.
So far this season, Rozier has averaged 14.8 points and 4.4 assists per game. He has tallied over 19.5 points and assists in four of the eight games. The opportunity for production is there as Rozier has played 30+ minutes in every game and ranks second on the team in minutes per game.
Heading into this matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami needs more production from Rozier. The team ranks 21st in the league in scoring and Rozier is looked at as a player capable of raising the offensive ceiling of the team. He also is shooting just 39.4% from the field, the lowest percentage of his career, so should be due for some positive shooting regression. Rozier has attempted double-digit shot attempts in all but one game and will get the volume of opportunity to clear this number. Expect him to begin to turn his season around and for Rozier to eclipse 19.5 points and assists in this game.
The Philadelphia 76ers officially hold the worst record in the NBA and will be searching for their second win as they face off with the Charlotte Hornets. Kyle Lowry has proven to be a far more important part of this Sixers team than was expected or hoped to be the case coming into the season. The 38-year-old has started five of the eight games and is averaging 23.8 minutes per game after entering the season with the expectation he would be on a 20-minute per-game limit. Overall he has averaged 8.0 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game.
Injuries have been the driving reason why Lowry has seen expanded opportunity. Currently, Joel Embiid is serving his three-game suspension, Tyrese Maxey is battling a hamstring injury, and Paul George has played just three games thus far. While the injuries do not have any notable changes, a few of the young players have shown some signs of life in their expanded opportunities. Most notably, first-round pick Jared McCain has scored 12+ points in three of the past five games and has been praised by Nick Nurse and his teammates.
Expect Lowry’s role to begin to reduce to what it was expected and for McCain to see expanded opportunity. Lowry has remained under 8.5 assists and rebounds in five of the eight games thus far and these odds should increase as his minutes shrink. Expect him to remain under this number in today’s game and for the matchup with the Hornets to be one that Nick Nurse is willing to unleash the younger players.
R.J. Barret has gotten off to an impressive start to the season, averaging 23.9 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.4 rebounds across the seven games he has played. After missing the first three games of the season due to a shoulder injury sustained in preseason, Barrett has tallied 31+ points in three separate games. However, he has been held to under 23.5 in the other four games he has played.
Heading into this game, expect Barrett to struggle with this Lakers matchup. Los Angeles has several big bodies capable of matching Barrett’s size including LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, and Jarred Vanderbilt. In addition, Immanuel Quickley has returned to the floor for Toronto and will eat into Barrett’s opportunity for production. So far this year Barrett is attempting 20.3 shots per game with his previous career high being 17.1 shot attempts.
Expect Barrett to begin to see some statistical regression and for it to start with tonight’s matchup with the Lakers. Los Angeles is still finding their stride defensively and will have a focused effort in this game. Look for Barrett to take a bit more of a back seat to Quickley and Gradey Dick and for him to ultimately stay under 23.5 points in this matchup.
