Since joining the SkyTeam alliance on September 1, 2024, SAS has observed a shift in travel preferences among its EuroBonus members.
With access to 13 partner airlines, including major names like KLM, Air France, and Vietnam Airlines, members now have a wide range of destinations to choose from.
This expanded network has led to a surge in reward bookings to diverse and adventurous destinations, as EuroBonus members take advantage of SkyTeam’s global reach.
Among the most popular new reward destinations are Ho Chi Minh City, Cancun, Miami, Zanzibar, and Los Angeles. These cities top the list of EuroBonus bookings, showing an increased interest in both urban and tropical experiences.
The variety in destination choices reflects a broader trend in travel patterns among SAS members, who are now exploring regions previously less accessible through reward bookings.
With the addition of SkyTeam’s network, EuroBonus members are now looking beyond traditional favorites like the USA and Japan. New interest has emerged in exotic locales, such as the Caribbean, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The alliance has given travelers more flexibility, making it easier to book reward trips to unique locations, from the vast landscapes of Patagonia to the vibrant cultures of the Dutch and French Antilles.
Aron Backström, VP Product & Loyalty at SAS, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “We are pleased to see our EuroBonus members embrace new travel opportunities with SkyTeam. The rise in bookings to destinations like Ho Chi Minh City, Zanzibar, and the Caribbean reflects a growing desire for diverse, adventurous travel experiences. With SkyTeam, we’re offering more flexibility and access to previously unreachable reward trips, allowing our members to explore the world in exciting new ways.”
Since the SkyTeam partnership began, SAS has seen a significant increase in reward bookings. Over 30,000 passengers have already booked SkyTeam award tickets, with a record-breaking 2,700 bookings on September 2 alone, marking the highest number of alliance award bookings in SAS history.
In addition to the popular destinations, certain SkyTeam airlines have become favorites among EuroBonus members. KLM, Air France, Vietnam Airlines, Kenya Airways, Garuda, Korean Air, and Virgin Atlantic are among the top carriers booked by SAS travelers, providing access to new adventures across Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
The new alliance with SkyTeam has opened up a world of possibilities for SAS EuroBonus members, who are now taking advantage of their expanded travel rewards. This partnership not only increases the reach of the EuroBonus program but also enriches the travel experiences available to SAS’s loyal customers. From Caribbean islands to Southeast Asian metropolises, EuroBonus members are now exploring the world in fresh, exciting ways, with SkyTeam’s network offering seamless connections to some of the most coveted destinations.
